iOS 14.5 | Definition
iOS 14.5 is Apple’s upcoming operating system version for iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and tvOS 14. Per Apple’s January 27th announcement, enforcement of the AppTrackingTransparency (ATT) framework will begin with iOS 14.5. ATT is Apple’s Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) opt-in mechanism which requires user authorization to access app-related data. The user must grant permission for advertisers to access data on their device for certain ad targeting and advertising measurement.
To prepare for this update and ensure you are in compliance with Apple’s policy, work on the following:
- Educate yourself on ATT framework and how it could affect your attribution
- Talk with your media partners and app developers
- Set up ATT prompts for your app(s)
- Familiarize yourself with Apple’s SKAdNetwork
iOS 14.5 is expected to be released in early Spring 2021.
