Kochava Measurable Extension and Digital Audience Network

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is Kochava Measurable Extension?

Kochava Measurable Extension is a cross-platform digital audience, media activation, and measurement solution that enables publishers & platforms to extend their media reach across other platforms and channels. For example, a digital out-of-home (DOOH) provider can use Measurable Extension to extend campaigns seamlessly from their own inventory network of billboards and screens to deliver highly targeted ads on mobile and tablet devices. Or a social media publisher can extend their campaigns from web and mobile to CTV, showing the same video ads on the biggest screen in the home. The result is enhanced media delivery and cross-channel synergy that drive stronger performance for publishers’ advertisers and incremental ad spend budget.

What is Digital Audience Network?

Digital Audience Network is the output from Measurable Extension, meaning it’s the extended reach of a publisher’s own audience that can be packaged and sold to their advertisers. Similar to how Meta enables advertisers to run ads on Facebook, Instagram, and the Meta Audience Network, partners who use Kochava Measurable Extension are able to offer their own branded Digital Audience Network as a solution for their advertisers to extend campaigns across platforms.

Does Kochava support third-party tags for extension campaigns?

We support a host of leading impression and measurement tags including DCM, IAS, Innovid, and Placed. In addition, Kochava’s own tags are used for all campaigns to ensure proper cross-device delivery and performance measurement.

We don’t currently support ad serving tags (e.g., VAST, VPAID).

Can I whitelist certain publishers in an extension campaign?

Yes; however, it isn’t recommended. Because Measurable Extension retargets your current campaign audience, it also isn’t necessary. Adding a whitelist increases costs, decreases the efficacy of reaching the desired audience, and limits delivery capacity against the targeted audience.

Can I implement a blocklist?

Yes; however, it’s not recommended as this increases costs and decreases reach. All of our CTV inventory is extremely brand-safe, running directly with major platforms and streaming services. We find that blocklists are more commonly used in online video (OLV) and display, typically limited to sites or apps that are considered competitive to the advertiser or publisher.

Can you ensure that all campaign extensions are within the desired markets?

Yes, we can implement geotargeting down to the state, designated market area (DMA), city, and zip code level for any campaign. This ensures that all ads are served in your specific geographic target area(s). We can also layer on location visitation targeting to serve ads to custom audiences of users who visit specific locations during a specific timeframe.

What are the creative requirements for Measurable Extension?

For each platform, at least 2 or 3 creative variations are recommended.

What if we don’t have video or display assets?

No problem; our team can take existing social media ads and easily convert them into display, OLV, or CTV assets. All we require is a link to the client’s relevant TikTok or Instagram post. We send copies of converted creatives back for final approval before going live. If you require ad creative conversion services, please let us know in advance of building the media plan, as there’s typically a 10% CPM increase for this service.

How does media pricing work for Measurable Extension?

We provide wholesale costs and suggested retail rates for all campaigns. The wholesale price is negotiated with our partners, typically a deep discount on the standard prices they charge a client (similar to how 7-Eleven buys chips from Frito-Lay at a wholesale price). The retail price is what we recommend you charge the client based on our competitive pricing intelligence and the desired margin range (similar to how 7-Eleven sells the chips to the customer for a higher price).

Following is a general outline of pricing by channel and campaign type. There are three general pricing tiers, giving you an idea of what you can expect to offer your clients. If you’re planning a campaign that is a combination of multiple tiers, pricing will fall somewhere in the middle.

This rate table is for example reference only. To get started on your media plan and get your custom rates, please fill out our RFP form.

What is included in Measurable Extension reporting?

For CTV, display, and OLV media, you will receive a login to your Kochava dashboard where you’ll find real-time reporting, including:

  • Delivery Data: Impressions, video completes, and clicks by creative, platform, location, and more
  • Attributed Conversion Data: Outcomes your client is measuring (e.g., website visits, app installs, purchases) broken out by various delivery inputs (e.g., creative, platform)
  • Mid-Campaign & Campaign Wrap Reports: Depending on the size and length of a campaign, we typically provide a wrap and/or mid-campaign update report that highlights performance and provides recommendations moving forward. If you need these reports, please advise us during the campaign setup process.

For DOOH, delivery and attribution reporting is not real-time and provided as weekly report files throughout the campaign.
